The manufacturers of chlorine have joined efforts for their REACH compliance activities and have launched in February 2009 the chlorine consortium.

Consortium description
The members of the consortium have agreed to collaborate under the leadership of Dow Europe and Anwil SA in the preparation of a registration dossier for chlorine as required by the REACH regulation. Two groups within the consortium exist, those that wish to register a strictly controlled intermediate dossier only and those that wish to submit a dossier additionally containing exposure scenario and chemical safety assessment information. The chlorine REACH consortium structure includes a Steering Committee, a Technical Committee and an Executive Committee.

Membership
The consortium is open to any European or non-European chlorine manufacturers, importers and only representatives as defined in the REACH Regulation and includes any Affiliates who also have an interest in registering the substance.
