ReachCentrum was created in June 2006 by Cefic (the European Chemical Industry Council) as the independent service unit to help companies all through the value chain to prepare and implement REACH.
Our team is highly qualified to lead you through the business implications of REACH legislation and processes. ReachCentrum specialists have years of experience dealing with the chemical industry. Leo Appelman - Managing Director
Leo joined ReachCentrum as the Managing Director in July 2007. Previously, he worked for 9 months within Cefic on nanomaterials, PBTs and POPs and risk assessment for existing chemicals. He joined Cefic after working for nearly 17 years in a global paint manufacturing company dealing with all Health, Safety and Environmental issues, from substance evaluation to HSE due diligence for acquisitions and divestments. He was the REACH facilitator for the Coating business. He was the head of the HSE department servicing the business units worldwide in their marketing approach. He was also involved in the registration of biocidal products and notifications for new chemical substances. Leo is a toxicologist from profession. |

Marie Brasseur - Public Relations and Marketing
Marie worked for the Business Development and Members Relations department of Cefic before joining ReachCentrum in 2006. She was a trainee at the European Parliament and went on to complete an internship in the United States to help develop the business of a Belgian SME. She has also worked for a pharmaceutical company. She has degrees in translation and marketing management. Marie is responsible for ReachCentrum communications and marketing. |

Vincenzo Girardi - REACH IT Trainings
Vincenzo has 20 years of experience as a professional trainer. He has amassed his experience in the information technology, consumer goods, banking and pharmaceutical industries. As a professional trainer, Vincenzo has advised on, managed and delivered numerous training projects. At ReachCentrum, his role is to develop and deliver training workshops and webinars on all REACH IT tools as they are released to industry. He is a member of the Institute of IT Training. |

Onno Jongerius - Business Development & Consultancy
Onno worked for 15 years as a Chemicals Management Consultant at a Dutch consultancy firm. He helped clients within the chemical industry and related authorities with various chemical regulatory compliance issues – including preparations for REACH – and oversaw the development of dedicated software tools. He was project manager for the development of the ‘Guidance for identification and naming of substances under REACH’ (RIP 3.10). As Business Development Manager and head of Consultancy, Onno is giving directions to the tools, guidances and services that ReachCentrum develops for customers. |

Jean-François Mercier- Consortium Management
Jean-François joined ReachCentrum in October 2008 to work as Consortium Manager. He worked 19 years in an international coatings, resins and chemicals manufacturing company in charge of Product Safety and Product Compliance for Europe. He took part to the European Council of producers and importers of paints, printing inks and artists’ colours (CEPE) in working groups on Labelling, SDS, Toxicology of substances, and more recently GHS. Jean François is a Pharmacist and Toxicologist by education. |

Mark Meesters - Consortium Management
Mark has worked as a Regulatory Affairs Manager in the chemical industry for 7 years. His principle responsibilities have included product safety, compliance with chemicals legislation and preparation for REACH. He is a chemist and lawyer by training. He recently joined ReachCentrum to head Consortia Management Services. In this role, he is responsible for managing consortia and the coordination of the activities of the ReachCentrum Consortia Managers. |

Vincent Navez - Legal Advisor
After completing his studies in European and economic law in Belgium, he has consolidated his legal training with 6 years practical experience as Legal Advisor at the European Consumer Centre of Barcelona, working for the European Commission ECC-network, mainly on consumer issues and Internal market issues. Vincent has also regularly collaborated as a lawyer on EU food safety regulation. He recently joined ReachCentrum to deal with REACH legal interpretation and application and give legal advice and guidance regarding data sharing and consortia formation. |

Paul Nguyen - REACH Trainings
After completing his studies in biology and chemistry in Vietnam, Paul was involved in pedagogical monitoring and consulting for the biology, chemistry and technology sections of the education and training department of a district in Ho Chi Minh City. Before joining ReachCentrum, Paul studied business administration in the Netherlands and in Belgium. At ReachCentrum, he is responsible for training support and the organisation of REACH workshops. |

Véronique Tarasovici - Office Management
Véronique has some 7 years of experience at Cefic, including 5 years as the personal assistant of the REACH Chemicals Policy Director. At ReachCentrum, she is responsible for the logistics and the day-to-day business operations. She also coordinates workshops, trainings and webinars. |

Stéphanie Van de Velde - Consortium Assistant
Stéphanie is responsible for the secretariat and administration of consortia, assisting the consortia managers. She takes care of all the organization, logistics, agenda and minutes of the consortia meetings. She worked as an academic coordinator for a post-graduate Brussels-based Business School for the trainings, courses and seminaries of two executive programmes.

Geert Vandewalle - Accountant
Geert is responsible for the general Accounting of ReachCentrum.
Before joining the team, he worked as Accountant at the Federation of
the Chambers of Commerce of Belgium. Geert relies on an experienced
carrier as Accountant in many wellknown Belgian, European and International organizations.
